Happy Thursday, all! Let's get started..
Look at one of our Class 15 students working with a family member on a Music/Art Guitar Project!! Great job!!
Here is an example of just 1 type of choice board. You may find it helpful to limit choices to 2-3 items at a time.
Feel free to print, cut it up, and offer the amount of choices that your child may do well with! If you have questions about field size, reach out to your teacher :)
If you have not followed the Hawkswood School page on Facebook, now is a good time to do so for updates, fun photos, extra activities and more!
Families,
We are already missing your children! In an attempt to stay connected as we all navigate this novel period, please email teachers your photos of kiddos working at home, experiencing the outdoors, having family time and taking breaks!
Please be reminded that more information regarding curriculum will be forthcoming through the mail and our other outlets, including phone blasts and social media.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Sneak Peek!
Today, we celebrated Read Across America day with approximately 20 First Responders who volunteered their time in classrooms with students - reading, doing activities - sharing equipment - it was SO fun! Here is one of our Class 5 students in real FDNY gear! More pictures to come throughout the week.
Thanks to PTO for their assistance with this curricular event, our awesome staff for welcoming our visitors, and of course, these First Responders!!
We thank you for all you do!
Class 6 celebrated African American History Month with a multi faceted, arts integrated lesson about Motown Records bassist James Jamerson. The students had the opportunity to play the bass guitar along to one of Jamerson's recordings, and later evaluated both their performances and the importance of a very influential musician. Great job, Class 6!
Families - Please be reminded that Spirit Week has been postponed to the week of March 9th!
Thank you for your understanding - we are looking forward to it!
“Class 1W and one of our friends from Class 9 had a BLAST wheelbarrow walking, bouncing a ball back and forth, and tossing colored beanbags into rings during our Movement group! Students worked hard on taking turns with friends, sorting colors, and on many of their individual therapy goals all while laughing, playing and having SO much FUN!!”
Class 1W went on an "ice skating" adventure! How fun!
Hawkswood School continues to celebrate International Week! Check out Class 10 learning about Egypt one day and Mexico another!
They learned about Egyptian culture, some music, the pyramids, and made Egyptian headbands typically worn by the pharaohs in ancient Egypt.
To celebrate Mexico, they discussed the culture, watched a video on their culture, food, lifestyle, etc. Finished up by making fresh guacamole with avocado, fresh squeezed lime juice, tomato, and onion. Yum!
In honor of National Soup Month, Class 6 made Vegetable Soup! The students followed a recipe, measured ingredients, and took turns adding vegetables to the crock pot. The soup was delicious - job well done!
Happy Monday from our friends at Hawkswood!
Class 14 read the fictional fairy tale, "Gingerbread Man." After reading together as a class, the students built a real gingerbread house and decorated it for the holiday season!
Buddy Day fun photos continue!!
Classes 3w and 7w read about gingerbread jobs, and made their own gingerbread people. The group played a game at the SMART Board answering questions about what they read so they could dress their gingerbread person. They also made gingerbread play dough. Everyone had fun making new friends! Awesome job, kiddos!
